Obituary for Edward U. Hupp
Edward U. Hupp, age 94, of Zanesville, Ohio, formerly of Caldwell, died Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Genesis Morrison House. He was born January 13, 1923, in Caldwell, son of the late John and O’Tillia Nau Hupp. He was a graduate of Caldwell High School, and he retired as manager of Caldwell Lumber Company following 44 years of service. Ed was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell and the Fr. Kleuber Council #2565, Knights of Columbus in Caldwell. He enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, watching football, and earlier in life he enjoyed bowling. He was a beloved husband and father who was devoted to his family, and he loved spending time with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Hill, Thelma Johnson, and Luella Crum; and two brothers, Howard Hupp and and infant brother.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Rita Zwick Hupp, whom he married August 1, 1953; his children, Connie A. (Eugene) Crum of Cambridge, Brian (Christina) Hupp of Delaware, and Stephanie (Jeff) Hupp-Miller of Lewis Center; 6 grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Crum, Todd (Annette) Crum, Megan Hupp, Joel Hupp, Logan Miller, and Aaron Miller; 4 great-grandchildren, Alyssa Crum, Andrew Crum, Allison Crum, and Matthew Crum; his siblings, Albert Hupp of Summerfield, Agatha Schafer of Senecaville, Art (Grace) Hupp of Caldwell, Leoba (Paul) Archer of Woodsfield, Rose (Ronnie) Schell of Caldwell, and Norbert “Bill” (Janice) Hupp of Caldwell; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may call Sunday, January 14, 2018, from 2-6PM at McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, where a vigil service will be observed at 6PM followed by a rosary conducted by the Knights of Columbus. Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be observed Monday, January 15th at 10AM at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Chester Pabin as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
