Obituary for Robert G. Kasten
Robert G. Kasten, age 86, of Caldwell, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Summit Acres Nursing Home in Caldwell. He was born January 29, 1932, in Akron, son of the late George L. and Alma Hamalainen Kasten. He attended Life Bible College in California, and he was a veteran of the Ohio National Guard. Robert retired from General Motors, Terex Division, at the Hudson, Ohio, plant. He was a frequent contributor to the Voice of the People column in the Akron Beacon Journal. He enjoyed writing poetry and writing in calligraphy. He also loved singing gospel songs, which he called “Songs of Zion,” and he loved the Lord.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly (Glynn) Davis; one sister, Esther (Denton) Hicks; one brother, William Kasten; and a brother-in-law, Fred Krager.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Ellen Cline Kasten, whom he married April 2, 1991; his children, Mikeal Kasten, Deborah Golden, Lucinda Khatana, and Lorena Kasten; one sister, Dorothy Krager; the mother of his children, Myrna Kasten; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be observed Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at 11AM at Olive Cemetery with Pastor George Clark officiating. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
