Obituary for Wayne L. "Honey" Love
Wayne L. “Honey” Love, age 96, of South Olive, Ohio, died Monday, October 15, 2018, at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born July 7, 1922, in Noble County, son of the late Amos and Marjorie Hughes Love. He was a 1940 graduate of Dexter City High School, and he was a World War II Navy veteran, having served on the USS Rankin in the Pacific Theater. Wayne owned and operated a family farm for many years, and he was employed by the former Mahle Corporation plant in Caldwell as a precision grinder and machinist. He was a member of the Mary Reed Memorial United Methodist Church at Crooked Tree. Wayne enjoyed traveling, hunting, gardening, and he was an excellent sharp shooter. He will always be remembered as being generous to friends and strangers.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn June Pitts Love, whom he married in 1953 and who died January 7, 2017; one sister, Grace Love Parrish; and four brothers, Eldon, Ronald, Dwight, and Blaine Love.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Jay Hammontree of Georgia.
A graveside service will be observed Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 11AM at Sharon Cemetery with Bishop David Moraine officiating, with military honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. McVay-Perkins Funeral Home, 416 East Street, Caldwell, is caring for the family.
